Holiday on the Greek island of Crete, September 2016
Just back from a wonderful week in Crete — not nearly long enough, so we’ll have to return again … and again! We stayed in a delightful villa with swimming pool just outside the village of Xirokampi with stunning sea, mountain and olive grove views. Crete is a big island so it’s impossible to do justice to all of it from a single base. For this holiday, we concentrated on just the western end of the island, which would still take several months to see properly. The beaches, gorges, villages, mountains and wildlife are all stunning and the food is fabulous everywhere — be prepared to drink plenty of free raki! I only took my camera out on two days so the images below are only of Chania and the ancient city of Aptera.
